Supporting Phil’s independence
Phil is a bank worker living with multiple sclerosis (MS). What started as slurred speech and trouble balancing, turned into heat intolerance where Phil would lose all strength until his body temperature was reduced.
The impact was all becoming too much. But Phil discovered us, and we worked together to find a solution.
Phil needed something that could cool him down quickly, and with a recommendation from an occupational therapist, we funded the installation of a hoist in his bathroom. Now, his wife can lift him into and out of a cold bath quickly, recovering his strength in just 60 seconds.
Phil’s now more independent, safe and secure in his own home. And it all started with the strength to say yes to support.
Sometimes, you’ve got to ask for help. My quality of life is just so much better now. It’s just knowing support is now there, so if something does happen, my wife can deal with it
